This colorful poster was made for climate activist movement Behoud Lutkemeer! in support of their continuous fight to preserve Lutkemeer, Amsterdam's last remaining organic farmland. When I learned about the controversial plans to build yet another distribution centre rather than preserving biodiversity, I realized that 'planet over profit' begins locally, and created this poster in support.
The posters were hung all around the city to raise awareness of an alternative vision for the area: Foodpark Amsterdam, where local food production, recreation, and biodiversity can coexist harmoniously.
Many of my ideas start out as wordplay or puns. During an open discussion night about Lutkemeer's future, I scribbled the initial draft of this poster on a note. The essence of protecting Lutkemeer lies in its potential to explore a regenerative, local future in Amsterdam. Contrasted with the business-as-usual approach, the allure of this choice becomes clear when made visual.
